Mikayel Melkumyan Receives Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to RA

On February 6, the RA NA Vice President Mikayel Melkumyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the RA Yogeshwar Sangwan.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan took part in the meeting.

Welcoming the Ambassador in the RA NA, Mikayel Melkumyan has highly assessed the Armenian-Indian warm relations that have started centuries ago and noted that there are things to do in order that cooperation would be accompanied by the deepening of the trade-economic and cultural ties.

The interlocutors discussed the perspectives of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

Presenting the volumes of the goods turnover existing between Armenia and India, the RA NA Vice President noted that due to mutual work we could increase them. In this context Mikayel Melkumyan proposed to organize forums to discuss different programmes directed to boosting of economic cooperation.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan has noted that the PAP has warm relations with the BGP Party of India and informed that in the future the members of the Conservative Party would visit Armenia. Naira Zohrabyan proposed to deepen the inter-party ties.

Thanking for the reception, Yogeshwar Sangwan has noted that since the independence of Armenia the political relations with Armenia are at high level. The Ambassador has highlighted the sittings of the Armenian-Indian Inter-governmental Committee being regularly held when issues concerning different spheres are discussed.
